A Testament to Our Mission

By Carly Kruyer | Operations Assistant

Dear Supporters,

We have had a very busy start to the year and are looking forward to a successful 2018 for all of our project partners, all over the world.

The GVI Trust has been working hard over the past quarter with our partners and projects on best practice when it comes to fundraising and their plans for 2018 to reach our overall target of £250,000. Big, I know, but we are confident that if we all work together, we will reach this goal.

We have also been working diligently on our new privacy policy for 2018 (which you can find our website) to comply with The General Data Protection Policy that came into place on the 25 th of May.

We are really excited about having our Facebook page verified as a registered charity and with that, our Donate button, which you can attach to any of your posts about The GVI Trust. Facebook doesn’t take a penny, other than the small bank transfer fee at the end of the month.

When it comes to impact, I would like to share a short story of an incredible woman that I feel is a true testament to GVI and The GVI Trust’s mission.

Toward the end of 2017, GVI Gordons Bay Woman’s Empowerment ran a fundraiser to raise funds for sewing machines, which were one of the things the woman from the program were really wanting to learn.

One of the first sewing students was a lady named Cacilda, who had previously never sewn before starting the course. After completing the course, she has been coming in regularly to practice on the machines and has begun making clothes and bags for friends and families, as well as helping the other students in her spare time.

Cacilda has recently begun working on a business idea to make materials that can be hired for events, such as table cloths, chair covers and decorations. Her hard work has paid off and we are incredibly proud to say that she has now made her first sale! She is an inspiring role model to the women she supports and through learning a skill and putting in hard work, she is starting to make her business a reality.

The GVI Trust is incredibly proud of Gordon’s Bay Woman’s Empowerment and Cilcilda for being such a passionate driven example. Because of you, your support and encouragement, we are able to make a difference in communities, lives and our environment.

We have so many exciting things coming up over the next few months and I cannot wait to share them with you – keep an eye out on our Facebook page!

With Gratitude,

Carly Kruyer
