Nutrition Education for the families of our children

By Hitomy Matsuda | Project Leader

In the team of Albergue Infantil Los Pinos, we are excited to greet you and tell you more about our work that is possible thanks to generous people like you.

Children and teens entering our Institution present nutritional conditions such as malnutrition, overweight and obesity, mainly due to a family economic condition that does not allow them a complete diet and a lack of knowledge on the part of their caregivers or guardians about how a basic diet should be for every child to grow up healthy.

Our Nutrition program focuses on contributing to the improvement of the nutritional and physical health of our children and adolescents through different action strategies. One of these strategies is to provide nutrition education to the families of our users, in order to encourage the adoption of healthy habits such as eating a nutritious diet and exercising or having an active lifestyle on a regular basis.

In our organization it is essential not only to counteract the effects of malnutrition in our users and contribute to the improvement of their nutritional status, but also to collaborate with their families to improve their quality of life, both present and future. For this, it is important that they themselves identify the what and why of nutrition, how they can feed themselves and have healthy habits with their own resources and possibilities.

We believe that knowledge about nutrition will allow the family members of our users to perpetuate healthy habits and at the same time, by having the conviction of how beneficial it is to lead an active and healthy life, they will be able to transmit these teachings to other generations in the future.

Thanks to your contribution, these actions generate positive changes in the lives of many Mexican children, teens and women.

Thank you once again for standing by our side.

On behalf of our children and their families, we send you a big hug.
