Lighting the lamp called Life: Ilakiya's sharing
By Venkat Ramakrishnan | Project Leader
Ilakiya
Shares Ilakiya in 12th grade:
“Namaskaram all
I am Ilakiya of grade 12. I study at
Isha Vidhya since 2007. Before joining
Isha Vidhya, I had dreamt about
studying in an English medium school.
My parents work on daily wages. Their
income was not enough to remit my
educational expenses in a private school.
Luckily my family came to know about
the scholarship provided by Isha Vidhya
in educating rural children. I got admission,
and I am continuing my higher secondary
with courage and confidence. In our school,
activity-based education is encouraged.
Learning by doing makes me more
comprehensive and initiates learning all
subjects. I commute to school by bicycle
which keeps me physically fit. I like sports,
and my school encourages sports. Every year,
we get chances to compete with other schools.
I wholeheartedly thank the supporting hearts
behind my education. My aim is to become a
doctor and I am putting all my efforts on studies.
Thank you.”
With all your help, lives of several students of
Ilakiya are made through quality education at
Isha Vidhya. If you would like to be continually
engaged with Isha Vidhya’s work, you can
consider starting a monthly recurring donation
for a small amount at:

We thank you for all you have done for Isha Vidhya,
and we look forward for your continued support!
Thanks & Best Regards,

Praveen's Aspiration To Be A Sports Person
By Venkat Ramakrishnan | Project Leader
Praveen - 10-19-2020
Praveen studies in grade 8 at Isha Vidhya Infosys
Matriculation School at Dharmapuri. He joined
Isha Vidhya in grade 2. His father had expired
when he was a small child, and his mother owns
a petty shop in their house. Praveen is the
only child in his family.
Praveen’s favorite is Mathematics. He loves
sports, and has participated in many sports
events including running, long jump, high jump,
shot put, kabaddi, kho-kho, and volleyball.
He has won several prizes. He has won the
first place in Zonal level athletic meet in the
shot put event, second place at the divisional
level, and has secured fifth place at the
district level. Accompanied by his maternal
uncle to the matches happening outside
Dharmapuri, Praveen’s ambition is to
become a national Volleyball player.
Praveen likes his school very much, as
importance is given to sports at Isha Vidhya.
He is under sponsorship. Praveen’s mother
is very thankful for the sponsorship. One of
Praveen’s uncles shared that Praveen’s
involvement in sports will be very supportive
for his future and his livelihood.
Praveen’s teacher says: “Praveen was
a bit shy earlier, and was less confident.
Now because of his wins in sports, he
has become bold and confident, and the
same reflects in the classroom too! There
is a poem called “Prayer of a Sportsman”
in the 7th grade syllabus. While discussing
this poem in the class, Praveen participated
enthusiastically. His words on the poem
showed his sportsmanship. He shared that
he would not have any negative feelings
towards his opponent if they won, instead
he would congratulate his opponent on
their victory, and practice well to win the
next time. It was great to hear that from a
7th grade student! Praveen is in 8th grade
now. This year, Praveen participated in the
Zonal level volley ball competition and won
the first place! He was placed at the third
place at the district level!”
Isha Vidhya’s vision is to develop several
successful individuals like Praveen.
If you would like to continually part
of this effort, you might want to start
a monthly recurring donation for a
small amount. The link to start a
recurring donation is:

We thank you for all you have done
for Isha Vidhya, and we look forward
for your continued support.

A Mother's Ambition For Her Daughter's Future
By Venkat Ramakrishnan | Project Leader
Durga and her mother
Durga is a 11th grade student in
Cuddalore Isha Vidhya school.
Durga's mother Rajalakshmi runs
a small grocery store in their
village in the state of Tamil Nadu,
India.
“Since the lockdown, I earn little
or nothing. Customers have not
been able to earn money and are
unable to spend any. I am finding
it difficult to make ends meet –
we are even falling short of food
for the children. But I want Durga
to study well, so I let her use my
smartphone for her online lessons.
It makes me so happy to see my
child learning so many things.
Durga should study well and
become a doctor one day, this is
my dream for her”, says Rajalakshmi,
with an empty wallet but a heart
full of ambition for her daughter.
Parents like Rajalakshmi have great
hopes and ambitions for their children.
If you would like to be continually
involved in supporting the education
of rural children like Durga, you can
start a monthly recurring donation for
a small amount, which will make a
huge difference in offering education
for them. The link to start a recurring
donation is:
