"Southern Madagascar faces extreme poverty and the cycle of violence, leaving women and girls highly vulnerable to climate shocks. Our Cyclone Valley Tech Campus offers vocational and digital skills training, empowering 180 women and 360 children annually. Your support directly funds skills for online jobs and local leadership, ensuring economic independence and building resilience where technology meets reality."
Southern Madagascar suffers extreme poverty, chronic drought, and widespread GBV. Women and girls are highly vulnerable, with under 10% finishing high school and minimal digital literacy. Rescue from violence is temporary without income. This traps generations in a cycle of dependency, devoid of skills for self-sufficiency and climate resilience. The region critically lacks pathways for empowering women in professional and digital spheres.
The project has two tracks: training single mothers to start and manage small businesses, and a tech campus for high school graduates with skills in English, research, and entrepreneurship. Both groups gain real paths to economic independence and long-term career options, including remote work. Outstanding graduates will be offered paid roles within TERATANY, the women-led local NGO implementing the project, ensuring sustainability, peer leadership, and deep community engagement.
The project will train and support over 150 women each year, including single mothers and high school graduates, enabling them to acquire vocational and digital skills that break the cycle of poverty. Mothers will achieve financial stability, and young women will have access to well-paid job opportunities, including remote work. In the long term, the project will promote gender equality, drive local economic growth, and inspire the next generation of female leaders in southern Madagascar.
