Ubrine is a determined 26-year-old single mother from Mundemba in Ndian Division in the South West Region, who has faced many challenges throughout her life. As a school dropout with no formal job experience or reliable source of income, she struggled to provide for herself and her young child by doing odd jobs. However, her resolve to improve her circumstances led her to embrace an opportunity that would change her life.
Through her dedication, Ubrine was selected as a beneficiary of a vocational training program sponsored by Reach Out Cameroon to take place in Buea, Fako Division in the South West Region where its head quarter is located. This program allowed her to gain practical skills and build a brighter future. She moved significantly, relocating to the bustling town of Buea, where she enrolled in a comprehensive training program focused on tailoring and shoemaking. For nine months, she was provided with accommodation, which allowed her to fully immerse herself in her studies without the constant worry of housing expenses and monthly allowance by Reach Out Cameroon.
During this transformative period, Ubrine honed her craft, learning the intricacies of sewing and the art of shoe design. The training equipped her with the confidence and skills necessary to pursue either employment or entrepreneurship—an essential step toward achieving economic independence and ensuring a better quality of life for herself and her child.
Upon completing her rigorous training, Ubrine returned to her community with a newfound purpose and ambition. With the knowledge she had gained, she was eager to establish her own business in tailoring and shoe-making. To secure the capital needed for her venture, she wisely invested the funds she received for startup assistance into another lucrative business—selling tomatoes and food wear. This strategic move allowed her to raise the necessary money to embark on her entrepreneurial journey, stepping into a future filled with potential and hope for herself and her child.
