Our final report.

The Service Centre
The Service Centre

Dear friends and supporters.

It has been a long road to reach our ultimate target of sustainibility. The main objective for this project was to establish a supply and repair service centre to manage the many small hydro and solar projects springing up in this very remote corner of the world. Humla is never likely to be linked to a national grid because of its remote location so it is important that a valid alternative is available.

The Service Centre idea was first mooted many years ago after the Nepal Trust was nominated for an international award - the Premio Italgas Award for Projects in the Environment. This helped to stimulate the idea of a Service Centre. Already there were small schemes breaking down and lying useless because they were too costly and remote to be fixed.

Over the following years land has been purchased and a fully equiped building has been erected. A local-based non-profit is now in charge  and active. The last two years have been difficult because of the Covid pandemic but there is now light ahead and a sustainable and clean renewables future is around the corner.

We have decided to de-activate this project with an eye to the future. Renewable energy is  the fuel source of the future and a valuable support and incentive for these remote mountain communities. Our support may be required in other ways to help promote the carbon free fuel of the future and help these remote cuommunities to survive.

Thank you for all your help and support to reach this milestone. The Nepal Trust has other projects on GlobalGiving if you wish to continue your support but we wish you all the best. With our best regards and Namaste
