Dear Friends
The Current Landscape of Impact
Over the past four months, from November 2025 through February 2026, the BASS After-School Learning Centers in Guntur, India, have continued to serve as a vital pillar of hope for 150 vulnerable children living in local slums. In a community where domestic environments are often overcrowded, poorly lit, and ill-equipped for academic focus, our three centers provide a safe, structured, and nurturing sanctuary. Under the guidance of qualified and compassionate teachers, these children are not just keeping up with their peers—they are excelling.
Throughout this period, we have witnessed significant academic milestones. Many of our students have received formal recognition and awards from their regular schools, a testament to the effective tutoring they receive in core subjects at our centers. Beyond the curriculum, we have prioritized holistic development, mentoring children in essential life skills and healthy hygiene habits that protect them from the seasonal illnesses common during these months. Now at the final quarter of the acedemic year .
The transformation we see is best reflected in the gratitude of the parents. For families struggling with poverty, the inability to guide their children’s homework or provide a suitable study space is a source of great distress. Our centers bridge this gap, ensuring that a child’s zip code does not determine their academic destiny. By providing consistent supervision, we are successfully keeping these children in the education system and away from the dangers of the streets, effectively shielding them from harm and exploitation.
However, we must share a sobering reality: despite the undeniable success of the children, the project is currently facing its most severe financial crisis to date. For nearly two years, the centers have received no external donations. We are now struggling to meet the most basic operational costs required to keep our doors open.
The monthly cost to sustain one center is $350—a modest sum that covers teacher salaries, building rent, learning materials, and the daily nutritious snacks that many of our students rely on as their primary source of evening sustenance. We are at a point where the continuity of this mission is under immediate threat.
As we look toward the future, our goal remains steadfast: to provide these 150 deserving children with a lifeline to a self-sufficient future. We urgently reach out to our global community of friends and supporters. Your generous contribution today is not just a donation; it is the rent for their classroom, the salary for their mentor, and the meal that keeps them focused.
We invite you to stand with BASS India. Your kindness today will ensure that the progress made between November and February is not lost, but rather serves as the foundation for a lifetime of achievement.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The BASS India Team
