Support Learning centres for slum Children- India

Warm greetings and best wishes to you from the BASS Learning Centres for Slum Children in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India! We are writing to share an honest and transparent update on our journey over the past few months (June to October 2026).

While our project has been active on GlobalGiving for over three years, we are currently navigating a deeply challenging fundraising phase with very limited financial support coming in. Though this lack of external funding brings sadness to our team, it has not shaken our commitment or slowed down our daily work. Our 6 after-school learning centers remain fully active, bustling with energy, and continuing to serve the children who rely on us every single day.

For children growing up in Guntur’s marginalized urban slums, these centers are far more than classrooms—they are lifelines. They bridge critical academic gaps for former dropouts through foundational coaching, offer a safe and well-lit sanctuary to study away from cramped slum homes, and provide a daily nutritious evening snack that serves as essential sustenance.

Despite receiving minimal donations this last quarter, our dedicated local teachers and community spirit have kept the doors open, advancing key learning modules in literacy, numeracy, and life skills smoothly. However, sustaining 6 centers entirely on local goodwill is reaching its limits.

 With a modest monthly operational cost of $350 per center—covering teacher salaries, space rent, learning materials, and daily nutrition—we humbly reach out for your urgent solidarity. Your contribution, no matter the size, directly transforms a vulnerable child's world by replacing despair with opportunity and education.
