The Gracias a Dios (Thanks to God) Learning Center, completed the 3rd promotion of 2022 on their 22nd Anniversary, dedicating and recognizing an outstanding Volunteer and Friend "JIMBO”.
JIMBO was born on May 2, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1960, he graduated from Custer High School, Milwaukee. In 2002, he studied the profession of Clown at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse. Linda has been JIMBO’s dedicated life partner for more than 30 years. JIMBO has 3 children, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
JIMBO, had the unique opportunity to learn about love, service and compassion from his loving mother. This feeling has allowed him to choose to be a generous and compassionate person. JIMBO has brought a volunteer spirit for more than 25 years to the Shrines Hospital, with special services in the needs, upkeep and designs of therapy devices, table covers and other items.
In 2016, JIMBO traveled to Nicaragua for the first time with the W/NP Volunteers and his granddaughters Erika and Kira. The trip to Nicaragua allowed him to learn about the realities and needs in the different projects, this motivated him to continue volunteering in the organization to continue looking for sewing machines for the Learning Centers in Nicaragua.
In 2017 he traveled to Nicaragua with Linda, visiting time allowed him to interact with the leaders of the Learning Centers, taking advantage of imparting his knowledge in maintenance and repair of sewing machines. This same year we had the happiness of having JIMBO repair the sewing machines provided by W/NP.
JIMBO has been characterized as a joking person, he says that he has a disease called Altruism. This courage demonstrates an immense capacity for service and helps others without expecting anything in return, it is given out of love, before putting his well-being before others, a stripped being. This has allowed JIMBO to be a very valuable volunteer for our W/NP Organization and the SHAWANO Shrines Club to which he belongs.
JIMBO with his loving heart has allowed him to travel hundreds of miles, city by city, under sun, snow and rain to collect sewing machines and other items to be packed and donated to the different projects of Wisconsin Nicaragua Partners in Nicaragua.
Today we thank you for your big heart and volunteering in our Organization, waiting for your soon visit to this land of Lakes and Volcanoes, Nicaragua.
We thank the teachers Ruth, Martha, Jezer and Josefa for concluding a year of many challenges and needs but victorious in seeing students graduating eager to learn. This year has been one of blessings despite the great needs we have for an infrastructure for our teachers and trainees, but even so we continue to implement a technical education for the learning of our trainees.
We thank the those who lent us the awning, helped us with the sound, and all those people who supported us in setting up preparations for the event.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2023.
