Moving Forward Inspite Of Unpredictable Weather

By Marie Marthe Saint Cyr | Executive Director

eWe have progressed in the last quarter.  I am glad to report from the total devastation we have begun the following nurseries.  We have seeded as indicated:

Peasant Organization                        Number of new plants in nursery production

OFAMA                                                                                       18,850

ACHLAP(                                                                                    15,438

SADN                                                                                          86,660

APTK                                                                                           51,500

                                                                        Total                   172,448

Early in the spring season during the month of April and May, Haiti experienced much rain and inundationn in the vulnerable south and northwest as well as the North.  Although some gardens were newly threatened and others drowned, destroying the newly planted food products due the level of inundation experienced.  Despite these difficultiesThe nurseries are seing growing trees that will soon be transplanted in selected areas to continue our reforrestation effort.

These are new beginings.  We are recapturing the lost of new trees and seedlings engendered by Hurricane Mathews.  What is inspiring is landing in Haiti a week ago and seeing a green cover in most mountains that surrounded the north, the south has rows of would be beans, rice  and tomatoes are in harvest.  The thumping you hear on the aluminium roofs are rippened mangoes that everyone will enjoy in the days that comes with spring and summer.

Thank you  so much for your continued support as our task is not ending.  Even after we pass the goal of 320,000 trees. Haiti is plagued with the worse erosion and most aggressive lost of top soil.  With you lending a hand and in the tradition of kombit, working together,  we are making a difference.  Thanks for your help.
