Donations to this project are supporting people like Maria

Maria is just 1 years old and lives in a small village with her mother, grandmother, Aunt and Uncle. Maria's Uncle is currently the sole bread winner in the home. The impact of poverty is quite visible in home. A single meal is served everyday with the leftovers often kept as breakfast for the other day. From the various accounts gathered, the family depends solely on the agricultural produce from the Uncle's gardening work.

Maria’s father lives in the city and cannot care for her, even when she became very mal-nourished.

However, her mother was able to take her to a nearby community clinic for proper screening and medications. After all necessary diagnosis, the child was placed on medication for two days before discharge.

After the above health service, Maria’s health was fully restored for a couple of months. However, due to no change in the nutritional intake, the baby started experiencing some stomach pain. According to the mother, a member of their village recommended the service of the Bo Children’s Hospital (partner Inter Care health unit).

Maria presented high fever and a very poor appetite. She was diagnosed with Severe Malaria and as well and as a blood transfusion, they were able to treat her with Amoxicillin and Vitamins provided by Inter Care.
