What A Year, Check Out Our Impact Together

Hello Supporters,

This is our last report of 2024 and what a great few years we have had together, because of your support and donations we have invested over 200,000USD in scholarships around the world and we have changed the lives not only of those completing the internship but also our wider communities.

To date we have provided training for over 80,000 community members and we have provided over 300 scholarships worldwide and this is 100% thanks to you and your donations.

So who was the scholars?

Meg Allan

As an active member of the community, Meg Allan volunteers with Mallacoota Aged Care Inc, Mallacoota Pony Club, Save Bastion Point group and many other small community groups. With a keen interest in interest in global issues and religions of the world, she is studying International Studies at Deakin, majoring in International Relations.

From a backgorund that international travel would never be an option and with her amazing showcase of drive and passion she was awarded a scholarship from Action Change to attend a charitable project in Asia to help with the program and also to help learn herself.

Meg wants to act as an ambassador for other young people in regional and rural areas to ensure that councils continue to invest in opportunities that provide promote the benefits of global citizenship as well as the importance of engaging with our Asia neighbours.

“Many young people within East Gippsland are not exposed to a very large range of people, cultures and nationalities. In the years to come, the influence of Asian countries over the geo-political sphere will mean that Australia's involvement with Asian nations will only grow. By having young Australians experience Asian culture it will further develop understanding of our closest neighbours.”

“When I return home from the volunteering placement I hope to be able to share my experiences and promote the benefits of volunteering overseas to other young people in our community.”

Since this trip Meg has certainly been an ambassador for other young people and so many applications are coming into us, sadly the pot is currently dry but we hope to be able to offer more soon. As well as Meg we have also provided scholarships to:

Ana for learning to Dive and become part of our charitable Marine Program in Mexico
Lluvia who is now a paid Country Director for a volunteer company and helps to proide support to her whole community
Tammy from Asia interestred in Social Justice obtained a scholarship to visit Nepal to compare Asia
Jordan was offered a scholarship to take his skills in disabilities to our disabled school in India, helping train the teachers in physiotherapy and other useful techniques.
Brynie when to Australia to learn about challenges for First Nation population and is now home in India sharing the global experience and how they tackle global issues, she has many ideas to help her community
We also provided scholarships for 4 local community members to be trained as Game Rangers in their home South African bush they now have full time employment to support their families and regularly do talks at the locals schools to inspire other young chldren in the community.

This is just a short snapshot of what we have been up to and this project has really been making a huge impact and that is down to you, the donors!

Look What You Made Possible...

Hello Supporters!

Sadly donations have taken a huge hit with the cost of living around the world hitting our pockets, we fully understand that many of our amazing supporters don't have the funds to support us as before, we thank you for your support in the past and while we actively fundraise for this project so we have enough funds to support a future scholar we thought we would take this opportunity to look back at one of many of our success stories...

Do you remember Georgia Illingworth and Anthony Jordan, who were both local community members in South Africa both of them showed huge passion and determination. From low income families the thought of higher education was a far away dream but through determination and hard work they went up against 700 other applicants for 1 of 40 spaces on a Nursing degree and were successful. To help them stand out from the crowd and to gain experience, Action Change awarded Georgia and Anthony a scholarship to help them enhance their experience and joined a local project in South Africa working with the community on health and wellbeing.

This experience and exposure demonstrated their commitment while enhancing their soft skills and communication which lead to them getting onto a degree course and today they work in local community hospitals giving back to community members in need, Anthony specialised in Nursing for Adults with disabilities and day to day is helping community members transform their lives while Georgia 5 years on is pushing through the ranks and training new nurses in the community while running outreach programs in townships.

Your donation allowed a dream turn into a reality that is changing the lives on thousands of people living in poverty, when we got back in touch with Anthony he gave some advice for others

“My advice would be to others, do it! It's amazing, life changing and even though it can be emotional, it's well worth it.

Georgia mentioned that "The trip for me was life changing, I am today a different person and just want to use this experience to help others in my community. Again thanks to Matty and Charlotte, you guys were absolute diamonds and deserve a lot more than just a pat on the back for it! "

Our scholarship program helps people that really have the motivation, passion and drive to learn and develop themselves so they can return and help their community tackle the global issues they face, donations to this program are very special as it helps us equip and tool then community to save themselves!

The Skills To Change Our Future

Bringing Skills To Life to Change The Future

G'Day Lovely Supporters, Fundraisers, Donors, Friends and Family,

Sadly we have completed our scholarship budget so we back to the fundraising stages for the next few months but the good news )or rather AMAZING news) is that since our very amazing donation 2 years ago we have smashed so many targets and records with over 150 community members coming out after successful training programs and are now leading 16 new projects in their community to empower and inspire others to step up and change their futures.

We have trained people that dropped out of school aged 9-11 and were previously unemployed and had turned to drugs and drinking, although in these cycles they still wanted to do something with their life so they attended our workshops. Showing them a future we worked with them and the professional services for them to get clean and volunteer within our project to show commitment. After several months of dedication and proving to us we issued the 4 of them with scholarships for local training programs, 2 went to the Aquarium to complete marine conservation training, 1 of them wanted to learn to surf so he could teach others so we funded this program and the last went onto learn about education.

Now one of our scholars is working with a local surf school and teaching township children how to surf 6 days a week, the other two have returned home and setup a marine program in partnership with the local Aquarium where they take marine lessons to local schools and events and the final scholar is working as a teaching assistant as well as providing after school homework club for the local community free of charge.

These 4 lost individuals are just a snapshot of the people we have been able to support over the past 2 years after an amazing $100,000 donation. We have really changed the outlook of the future not only for these individuals but the wider community too.

Thank You for every single donation to this project you have really helped us truly and now we begin to start our fundraising efforts again to continue to train more change makers around the world,
