Nurses for Nightcare December 2018
By Angela Shafer | Fundraising Executive
![]()
With your support from June - November 2018, 249 people and their families were helped with our Nurses for Night Care service. We provided 705 nights of care free of charge. Each night of care costs around €320 and this gives someone the choice and dignity to spend their final hours at home, with their loved ones and memories.
'Without all your help and kindness it would have been impossible to carry out Ann's final wish to pass peacefully at home'
(Name changed to protect the privacy of the family).
What the service offers
This service enables those people who are living with illness such as dementia, motor neurone disease, advanced respiratory disease, heart failure, and end stage kidney disease to receive expert care, support and reassurance in their final nights.
How the service works
The nurses stay in the home throughout the night, providing nursing care, practical help and reassurance to both patient and family. The service can give a significant support for families at what can be a very difficult time.
Once again Thank You for supporting our Nurses for Night Care programme. Without your support or the support from people like you we would not be able to provide nursing care, practical help and reassurance to both patients and their families in their own homes.
