Project Report

One Meal, One Hope: Feeding Brick Kiln School Children

Implementing Organization:
Moses Welfare Foundation
Project Location: Hut schools near brick kilns, Pakistan
Project Duration: 4 months
Target Group: 300 school-going children from brick kiln communities
Total Budget: USD 20,000
Funds Raised: USD 1,021
Funding Gap: USD 18,979

Executive Summary

One Meal, One Hope: Feeding Brick Kiln School Children is a targeted nutrition and education support initiative designed to address child hunger and malnutrition among children attending hut schools near Pakistan’s brick kilns. These children belong to families living under extreme poverty and bonded labor conditions, where access to sufficient and nutritious food is severely limited.

The project will provide one nutritious meal per school day to 300 children over a four-month period. This intervention will directly improve health, enhance learning capacity, increase school attendance, and reduce dropout rates. Ultimately, the project aims to break the cycle of poverty by ensuring that hunger does not prevent children from accessing education.

Problem Analysis

Brick kiln communities in Pakistan are among the most marginalized populations in the country. Families earn less than USD 2 per day and struggle to meet basic needs. Children often attend school without having eaten, leading to:

  • Chronic malnutrition and poor health
  • Low energy, poor concentration, and reduced academic performance
  • High absenteeism and school dropout rates
  • Increased risk of children returning to labor instead of completing education

Without addressing hunger, education interventions alone remain insufficient and unsustainable.

Project Objective

To provide one daily nutritious meal to 300 children enrolled in hut schools near brick kilns, thereby improving their health, supporting consistent school attendance, and strengthening their capacity to learn.

Project Activities

  • Identification and registration of 300 beneficiary children
  • Preparation and distribution of hygienic, nutritious meals on each school day
  • Monitoring of children’s attendance, health, and nutritional status
  • Regular reporting to donors and stakeholders

Expected Outcomes

  • Reduction in hunger and malnutrition among beneficiary children
  • Improved physical health and energy levels
  • Increased school attendance and reduced dropout rates
  • Enhanced concentration, learning outcomes, and classroom participation

Long-Term Impact

The project will contribute to long-term social change by enabling children to complete their education, reducing their vulnerability to bonded labor, and empowering them to pursue livelihoods beyond poverty. Over time, this will strengthen families, communities, and the broader society.

Budget Overview

Total Budget: USD 20,000
Funds Raised: USD 1,021
Remaining Requirement: USD 18,979

The budget covers food supplies, preparation, distribution, monitoring, and reporting.

Conclusion and Appeal

Despite limited initial funding, the need remains urgent. We respectfully invite donors, partners, and institutions to support One Meal, One Hope and help us provide daily nutrition to children who would otherwise attend school hungry.

Your contribution will directly translate into meals, education, dignity, and hope.
