Holidays for families of the palliative program

Dear friend, we are so grateful for your support for children who cannot overcome cancer.

Thanks to you and philanthropists like you, palliative families can enjoy time together.

This month, four families of the palliative program went to the countryside to gain strength. Today we share with you the story of their incredible journey.

Every day parents and children did exercises together, had meetings with a psychologist and Canistherapy classes. Dogs Lika and Skif accompanied the parents during their morning walk to the farm. They raise the emotional and psychological state of the parents, helping to distract from problems and switch their attention to positive emotions.

Children were engaged with a music therapist and volunteers — they made musical instruments. On the other master classes they made dragons' crowns, built a giant piñata and beat it with a bat (everyone could let off steam), played board games, and visited the rope town.

Families went to the pool, fed the goats, walked by the lake, had a disco, enjoyed a chemical show, baked bread, ate popcorn, and watched a cartoon on a big screen.

The families created their universe in memory of the vacation — each family painted their picture!

Our photographer is preparing albums about this beautiful time as gifts for the families.

Families were happy to have fun together and get away from their worries.

A new direction in the palliative program of the Tabletochki Charity Foundation is canistherapy.

Canistherapy is a type of therapy with animals, a treatment and rehabilitation method using specially selected and trained dogs.

Specially trained dogs provide emotional and psychological support to the child, family and help to distract from the illness, switch their attention to positive emotions and assist in rehabilitation.

28 sessions have already taken place with the wards of the palliative program.

The miniature schnauzer dog Lika, together with a dog handler and a psychologist, conduct classes for children who cannot overcome cancer.

One of the first to meet the dog Lika was a wonderful boy Maxim. Maxim has been undergoing treatment at the Cancer Institute for a long time. Due to illness, Maxim sees only with one eye. The boy has brain cancer.

During the lesson in the park, Maxim learned to give commands and interact with Lika, played and learned a lot about taking care of a dog. Maxim and his family laughed a lot.

Now Maxim dreams of his dog and even came up with a name for her - Marshal (as in the cartoon "Paw Patrol").
