Drinkable Water

Teaching students how new system works
Teaching students how new system works

Dear friends,

A small improvement In peoples lives sometimes seems to be uneventful. For our children in rural schools of Argentina even one small change, one small improvement, has a tremendous effect on their lives. We are thrilled to share these news with you because you are part of every achievement.

In School 916  "Tomas de Acevedo" located in Paraje El Gramillar, Pampa del Indio, Province of Chaco, 3 water filters for arsenic fluoride were installed in the main water tank that supplies water to the entire facility. The procedure was checked, and school authorities were trained in the use and maintenance of the new system. Water samples were then taken and analyzed. Formal Lab studies came back with the amazing result that water is now 4 times below the arsenic limits permissible for human consumption according to the World Health Organization requirements.

Moreover, in School 395 Paraje Pampa Ombu, Pampa del Indio, Province of Chaco, the procedure was the same but at this location the water filters were installed in kitchen faucets which are usually used by the children. According to the teacher in charge, a change of place for the filters was required as the kitchen was relocated. In the same manner school authorities were instructed on the use and maintenance of such filters. The water was Lab tested and results came back with the astonishing results that this procedure lowered the permissible arsenic limits for drinking 10 times, according to World Health Organization requirements.

In School 4650 "Santa Teresa de Jesus", El Pucara Region, Department of San Carlos Province of Salta the procedure was different. In this case a device was manufactured by means of an 8-blade wheel and an axis connecting two diaphragm pumps. The device is pulled by the force of the water that circulates through a ditch in the surrounding area (due to the lack of electric power).

This way and without consumption of energy, we transported the water to the school that had been supplied before by being carried on buckets by teachers every Monday. Lab tests were carried out with and now water supply levels do not show any metalloid in existence. Other analysis were previously made and all indications show that the water is now clean and safe for drinking.

We shared this news with you with great joy because you make this possible with your generous and constant contributions by allowing us to be the link between your generosity and the needs of so many children in our country.

Thanks to all our donors who joined hands in helping us improve the lives of so many children. Thanks to Santiago Del Hoyo the engineer in charge of these projects.
