Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda

Dear Patrons,

We are so happy to thank you very much for all the support that you have provided so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

We are so excited to share with you the progress of trees planted that are growing well ( See attached photos). Thank you very much for your generous donations through GlobalGiving to Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda. Your donation helps ensure we can continue helping our community, so thank you!

We know there are a lot of other ways you could have spent this money, so we feel privileged that you chose to invest in our Rwanda forestation project.

We’ll keep sending you an update through GlobalGiving three or four times a year to tell you about the impact you’ve made. We also thank all Muyanza and Burega Primary school students for their valuable and active participation in this forestation project. 

I would like to share with you that, the trees we have planted in land 1 are growing well, Citrons trees are now about 2.5 meters and Grevelia Rubista is around 4 meters. Citrons are in need of organic fertilizer and other maintenance to remove unwanted herbs or small trees. 

After Tree maintenance activities, we will always keep our eyes on our planted trees because we want to protect the land in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans. So, close follow-up and maintenance is very important.

Happy World Environment Day! World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5 June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. We are so happy to thank you very much for all the support that you have provided so far for our Rwanda forestation project.
Recently in Rwanda, we have been affected by the consequences of climate change where the floods were caused by the heavy rain on 2 and May 2023 in Northern Western, and Southern provinces, and this disaster left thousands of families without shelter, food, and other basic life. 130 deaths in that week and more than 5,000 homes were destroyed (figures as of 4th May 2023). We are so privileged for the support to the Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda project. We know there are a lot of other ways you could have spent this money, so we feel privileged that you chose to invest in our Rwanda forestation project.

Since the beginning of the Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda project, we have planted more than 30,000 trees in Northern part of Rwanda. As we have completed Tree planting activities for more than 30,000 trees, we are currently busy with maintenance and also we need to do fencing of the land because we want to protect the lands in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans.
