Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda

Anti Erosion Terraces

Dear Patrons,

We are very happy to thank you very much for all the support that you have provided so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

We are so excited to share with you the progress of the final work we are doing before we start planting at the end of January 2023. We are making anti-erosion holes or anti-erosion terraces (see photos) at location Rwanda: 724+CPW Mugambazi (Google Plus code). This area’s name is Mugambazi (colline Mwite). Because this area I a hill area, the anti-erosion holes will help to maintain water after the rain, hence our trees will grow quickly.

We take this opportunity to thank Burega sector leaders for their great collaboration and their valuable and active participation in this activity. By the end of this month, this activity will be completed and we will start trees planting activities. RWAYDAVO Volunteers and project workers will help in digging holes deep enough to cover the tree's root-ball and as well as planting trees. We will plant trees. The planting of trees will depend on the rainy.
After Tree planting activities, we will fence the land because we want to protect the land 6 in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans. After all these activities we will do close follow-up and maintenance.

To do this successfully, we will need ongoing funds for the regular maintenance of the saplings and the land. The maintenance will require maximum care and supervision to make sure that trees are growing well. This activity will also include pruning the area properly in order to keep the trees healthy and strong, Water is food for our trees and plants, and anti-erosion terraces will maintain some water after the rain and prevent dryness of the soil. We will make sure that the soil is not compacted because the soil compaction prevents water and oxygen from infiltrating to the tree’s roots.

Buyoga land 6 preparation completion report

Dear Patrons,

It is our honor and pleasure to have you as partners, supporters, and donors. On behalf of Rwandan Youth Development and Voluntary Organization, I am very much excited to take this opportunity to thank you very much for all the support that you have offered so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

In this field report, we are sharing with you, the progress of Buyoga land 6 preparation activities. On Saturday, the 17^th of December 2022, our land 6 preparation activities started at 7 AM and went on till 2 PM. Together RWAYDAVO workers and volunteers, have completed the preparation of land 6. This land will accommodate 10,000 trees. RWAYDAVO volunteers supervised the activity and ensured that the land preparation activities are done according to the guidance because RWAYDAVO volunteers conducted a teaching session before the activities starts.

Next week we will start tree planting activities for land 6 and we will keep sharing the progress of the planting activities till the land is completely planted.

For fencing Land 6, we will start immediately activities that will help us to construct fences. It is very important to do fencing of the lands because we want to protect the land in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans. Maintenance is a key activity after tree planting and fencing. RWAYDAVO volunteers and project workers will ensure that maintenance is happening as planned to facilitate our trees to grow well without disturbance.
