Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda

Dear Patrons,

We are very happy to thank you very much for all the support that you have provided so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

We are so excited to share with you the progress of sapling planting activities for land six. We planted saplings at location Rwanda: 724+ CHC Mugambazi (Google Plus code).

On Wednesday and Thursday, the  29^th and 30^th of march 2023, we planted additional 6500 saplings and we have completed the tree planting for land six with a total of 28500 trees.

We take this opportunity thank students from Muyanza Primary school and their valuable and active participation in this forestation project. In this activity on the second day, a total of 32 students participated in the planting. RWAYDAVO Volunteers and project workers helped in digging holes deep enough to cover the tree's root ball. The student would remove the root-ball from the container and place the tree in the hole. It was amazing to see children doing such amazing work! They enjoyed the activities very much the activities. Rwandan Youth Development and Voluntary organization volunteers and leaders ensured that the activities happened as planned.

We would like also to let you know that the saplings we planted for the first time all are growing well and none of it died due to any reason, this time is a rainy season and a good time for tree planting. I would like also to let you know the trees we planted; 99% are eucalyptus, So, we have completed sapling planting on Land 6.  

The planting of trees was also very much supported by the community leaders and the district leaders. They have also requested our organization to help in reforestation in other parts of the Rulindo district, and our organization promised for replication of the project if there is enough funds. 
For fencing Land 6, we are planning to start basic activities as soon as possible. We need to do fencing of the land 6, because we want to protect the land in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans. After all these activities we will do maintenance.

We need ongoing funds for the regular maintenance of the saplings and the land 6. The maintenance will require maximum care and supervision to make sure that trees are growing well. This activity will also include pruning the area properly in order to keep the trees healthy and strong, Water is food for our trees and plants – that’s why effective watering is one of the most important ways to care and maintain. Also, as the soil compaction prevents water and oxygen from infiltrating to the tree’s roots, we will make sure that the soil is not compacted. We will be doing mulch about 6 inches from the base of your tree so that we cannot damage our trees roots.

We are so excited to share with you the progress of sapling planting activities for land six, this time; Friday the 17th, and Saturday the 18th of March 2023, we planted around 12,000 trees in land six.  We planted saplings at location Rwanda: 724+ CHC Mugambazi (Google Plus code). This area’s name is Mugambazi (colline Mwite). Because this area I a hill area, the anti-erosion holes created before the tree planting activities will help to maintain water after the rain, hence our trees will grow quickly. We would also like to inform you that,  it started raining the next day after the two days' planting activities. There is no risk that some saplings might not grow as planned. 

We take this opportunity to thank students from Burega sector leaders and communities for their active participation. We would like also to thank Muyanza Primary school, Burega primary school, and Butangamundu primary school students and leaders for their valuable and active participation in this forestation project. In this activity,  During the project activities, 35 RWAYDAVO Volunteers and project workers helped in these two days' planting activities to be successful. The trees we have planted this time  100% are Eucalyptus. 

For fencing Land 6, we will start activities soon after land six is complete. The detailed report will be shared after the planting of trees for land six will be completed. We will be using fencing the land because we want to protect the land 6 in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans. After all these activities we will do maintenance to make sure our trees planted are growing well.
