Plant 40,000 Trees In Northern Rwanda

Progress on the land 5 preparation

Dear Patrons,

Rwanda Youth Development And Voluntary Organization
would like to express my deep gratitude for all the support
that you have provided so far for our tree planting project
hosted at GlobalGiving. On behalf of Rwandan Youth
Development and Voluntary Organization (RWAYDAVO),
We thank you very much for all the support that you have provided
so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

We are so glad to share that we are making very good progress
in our fundraising, and we are happy to let you know that we
have achieved our immediate milestone of raising enough funds
to implement most of the important parts of this project

We would like to let you know that after planting trees we have
Started land preparation for the remaining part of land 5 that
we were unable to complete it because we were not having enough
saplings to complete the land 5. For this time,
we will plant 8000 trees on land five.

I just wanted to take a minute to update you on the efforts
we are taking for getting prepared for preparing the fifth
land and how our volunteers are working towards that.
For preparing the Taba land, Colline Mwite village in
Rulindo district of Burega sector, Rwanda. This area’s
Google code is Rwanda: 7299+2X5.

To prepare this land we will need 16 people well
trained to prepare the Taba Cell, Colline Mwite village
land from September first week, and this will take 15
to 15 days. Due to the urgency of planting saplings
by the end of September 2022, we might increase the
number of workers. We have also finished all
preparations related to the transport of organic fertilizer.
The transport was being done by people who will carry the
fertilizers using the head as this land is not near to the road.
To do this, 20 people helped to achieve that
For planting trees, we will involve primary school
students and children
around the village. The supervision will be done
by Field Operation Manager together with RWAYDAVO volunteers.

We wish and hope that through this project,
we will be able to make a significant impact
in the lives of the people in the community,
and instill the importance of trees in the minds
of the people so that they take care of them
on an ongoing basis.

Additional Saplings are ready for this september

Dear Patrons,

We are very happy to thank you very much for all the support that you have provided so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

We are so excited to share with you that saplings planted to get planted for two months, September and October are ready now ( See attached photos)

The goal of this project is to raise awareness of environmental degradation and also to take concrete action to protect the environment. Those actions have mainly focused on 1) tree seedling production to assist in reforestation and 2) training local people which are focused on the environment: tree nursery techniques, climate change, and agro-forestry.

Rwandan youth Development and Voluntary organization is having more than 15,000 saplings ready to be planted. This includes Grevelia robust, passion fruits, tree tomatoes, and eucalyptus. We have included Eucarptus because Rulindo District authorities oblige our organization to plant those trees because the area we are going to plan them is a mountain area and there is a high risk of erosion and sliding and Eucalyptus trees have a good reputation in the prevention of land sliding and erosion in this area. Eucalyptus trees are known to play a significant role in the conservation of the environment by protecting soils against erosion and landslides.

We are planning to plant 10,000 trees within two months from September 2022 and to do this successfully, we will need ongoing funds for the regular maintenance of the saplings and the land. The maintenance will require maximum care and supervision to make sure that trees are growing well. After the planting, we will also do fencing.
