Buyoga land 6 preparation completion report

Dear Patrons,

It is our honor and pleasure to have you as partners, supporters, and donors. On behalf of Rwandan Youth Development and Voluntary Organization, I am very much excited to take this opportunity to thank you very much for all the support that you have offered so far for our Rwanda forestation project.

In this field report, we are sharing with you, the progress of Buyoga land 6 preparation activities. On Saturday, the 17^th of December 2022, our land 6 preparation activities started at 7 AM and went on till 2 PM. Together RWAYDAVO workers and volunteers, have completed the preparation of land 6. This land will accommodate 10,000 trees. RWAYDAVO volunteers supervised the activity and ensured that the land preparation activities are done according to the guidance because RWAYDAVO volunteers conducted a teaching session before the activities starts.

Next week we will start tree planting activities for land 6 and we will keep sharing the progress of the planting activities till the land is completely planted.

For fencing Land 6, we will start immediately activities that will help us to construct fences. It is very important to do fencing of the lands because we want to protect the land in which the trees are planted from animals like goats, cows, and sheep, as well as from the disturbances caused by humans. Maintenance is a key activity after tree planting and fencing. RWAYDAVO volunteers and project workers will ensure that maintenance is happening as planned to facilitate our trees to grow well without disturbance.

To achieve this successfully, we need ongoing funds for the regular maintenance of the saplings and the land. The maintenance will require maximum care and supervision to make sure that trees are growing well.

Land preparation start for 10,000 trees

Dear Patrons,

Thank you very much for the support you offered to our Rwanda forestation project aims to plant 40,000 trees.

I am very happy to share with you the progress of the project activities and the ongoing activities. As you know recently we have completed the planting of 8000 trees on land 5, now we are growing additional 10,000 trees to be able to start planting the land given to us by the Rulindo district which is about 3 hectares. and to be able to achieve our planned activities including land preparation, saplings activities, tree planting, and fencing. We need ongoing funds to carry out the planned activities. The maintenance will require maximum care and supervision to make sure that trees are growing well. This activity will also include pruning the area properly to keep the trees healthy and strong, Water is food for our trees and plants – that’s why effective watering is one of the most important ways to care for and maintain, so watering might be needed during the dry season. Also, as soil compaction prevents water and oxygen from infiltrating the tree’s roots, we will make sure that the soil is not compacted especially in the Dry season. We will also continue to do mulching about 6 inches from the base of your tree so that we cannot damage the roots of our trees planted.
