Quarter Report

By Bashir Abdi | Project Coordinator

During this reporting quarter, Talobeeg Foundation focused on sustaining momentum for the Prevent a Child from Going Blind in Somalia project through fundraising and strategic planning. The organization participated in two GlobalGiving campaigns to mobilize resources for the continuation of school-based eye health interventions, including vision screening, awareness creation, and referral support.

Although the funds raised during this period were not sufficient to fully implement planned activities, the Foundation used this time to strengthen coordination with target schools and local stakeholders, ensuring readiness for implementation once funding is secured.

Fundraising Progress and Adaptation

Despite constraints, the Foundation remains committed to delivering the project. To ensure efficiency and impact, Talobeeg Foundation plans to combine the targets of Quarter 4 of 2025 and Quarter 1 2026 into a single implementation phase. This will be supported by anticipated local donations expected in February 2026, which will help resume and scale up activities.

Way Forward

In the next phase, the project will focus on:

  • Conducting vision screening for school-aged children;
  • Referring children with eye conditions for further treatment;
  • Raising awareness among teachers, parents, and communities on early detection and prevention of eye health issues.

A comprehensive report detailing results, number of beneficiaries reached, and key outcomes will be shared after the implementation of the combined activities.

Appreciation

Talobeeg Foundation appreciates the continued support of GlobalGiving and its donors. This support remains essential in preventing avoidable childhood blindness and improving the well-being of children in Somalia.
