Strengthening the Future: Progress of the Preventing Teen Pregnancy Program
During this period, we delivered workshops to students from 1st to 3rd year of high school, where they learned and openly engaged in essential topics such as their sexual and reproductive rights, the consequences of adolescent pregnancy, and the emotional, economic, and health risks it entails. We also addressed the prevention of sexually transmitted infections and the multiple factors that influence how adolescents experience their sexuality.
A key component of the program was promoting communication among peers and strengthening trust with supportive adults. We also shared information about the youth-friendly health clinics offered by the Ministry of Health, where students can receive safe and confidential guidance. In addition, students learned that if they experience violence in their relationships, they can access emotional support from Sarahuaro’s psychologist.
We are fully committed to keep expanding these workshops to more high schools, as well as bringing them to middle and elementary school students throughout the new areas of the region. This work is essential to building more informed, safe, and resilient communities, and we continue to move forward thanks to the support that makes this mission possible.
We want to express our deep gratitude for your interest and commitment to the Preventing Teen Pregnancy Program. Thanks to your support, we began the school year with the firm conviction to continue making a positive impact on the lives of young people in our community.
