Protecting Children in Renk and Twic East Counties

Report Title Child Protection in Twic East and Renk Counties.

1. Introduction The Smile Charity South Sudan initiated a child protection project intended to protect the rights of the children and to create a conducive environment for the protection of their welfare. This project was meant to sensitize the communities on the issue of child protection.

2. Main Activity

2.1 Child Protection Awareness Campaign A child protection awareness campaign was organized by the Smile Charity South Sudan and involved a total of 200 participants from both Twic East and Renk Counties. 6. Conclusion The “Child Protection in Twic East and Renk Counties” project has made a considerable contribution to increasing awareness on child protection in Twic East and Renk Counties. Continued efforts are necessary to ensure that all children have a safe and friendly environment.

Smile Charity South Sudan supported two disadvantaged children from Renk County with a range of interventions. One of these is a male child, aged 9 years, and another is a female child, aged 15 years. The two were identified by the community evaluation as requiring urgent aid as a result of lack of economic resources and access to basic needs and education.

The kind of help provided to the children involved the provision of clothing and shoes. The payment of tuition to facilitate continuous learning was another area that was covered to provide them with continuous education. From the continuous support provided by the organization, the child has now completed nursery education and has moved to primary education owing to the successful support provided by the Smile Charity South Sudan organization.

Moreover, the program facilitated the improvement of the children’s dignity, confidence, and school attendance rate. Smile Charity South Sudan also collaborated with caregivers and community members to influence the promotion of education as well as the protection of children. Finally, the project clearly highlights the positive influence that targeted interventions may offer children in order to gain significant progression in Renk County.
