You helped protect Luna from abuse!
By Paula Lucas | Founder & Executive Director
Cindy called us from Spain desperate to escape her abusive husband with her furbaby Luna. She had already gotten a repatriation loan for herself to come home but the costs to bring Luna home were not covered. Cindy asked us for the costs to get Luna's vet certificate, an in-cabin crate and the $200 flight fee. Because of donations like yours we were able to help Cindy. They flew home last week just in time to be home for Thanksgiving!
Here is part of an email we received from Cindy. "I am so happy. You have no idea how much being able to bring Luna home with me meant. When I get a job, I am going to donate to your organization so other American women with pets can come home too."
We hope you also had a wonderful Thanksgiving! And thank you for helping Cindy bring Luna home!

Harvey & Andy are now safe!
By Cassie Riemer | Project Assistant
Harvey & Andy
Erin called AODVC from Sweden where she had been living with her husband, her son Harvey, and the family dog, Andy. Erin always made sure that her life appeared to be wonderful to all of her family and friends back home. However, things in Erin’s life really were not wonderful, Erin’s husband was an alcoholic. He frequently would come home very drunk and angry for nearly any reason. He would shout, throw things, and became abusive to everyone in the family.
Andy, took most of the abuse as he would bark and try to get in the way anytime Erin’s husband started shouting or becoming physically violent with Erin or Harvey. Andy was Harvey’s best friend and a lot of time his hero when Harvey’s dad would lose control. AODVC was able to bring Erin, Harvey, and Andy back to the US, helping them to escape the severe abuse from her husband. Both Harvey and Erin would have been absolutely devastated to leave Andy behind.
Thank you for allowing us to help families like Erin’s!

Your Support helped us Rescue Cindy & Zeus!
By Cassie Riemer | Project Assistant
Cindy & Zeus
Cindy had rescued her Dog Zeus as a puppy while living in Naples. Zeus was like a child to Cindy who has always had a deep compassion for animals.
Cindy’s husband became abusive to both Cindy and Zeus, and after years of trying to hide her situation Cindy finally could not take it anymore. She could not stand the abuse and to see Zeus suffer at the hands of her husband any longer. She considered giving Zeus up to save him from the torture they both endured.
This is when Cindy called our organization, because of our donors we were able to help both Cindy and Zeus get the documents they needed to escape their situation. Without Zeus Cindy would have not accepted our services to help her flee Italy. They are home safe and sound and extremely thankful for the help we were able to provide.
It is because our donors, that our Organization is able to help Victims of Domestic Violence stay with their beloved companions. Thank you!
