Dear friend,
In the last few months, we have seriously progressed on providing women with educational tools for self empowerment in Siem Reap.
On May 2022, our project team organized an orientation workshop to welcome 28 new recruits for our Young Women Entrepreneurs project.
2 groups were successfully formed and will be getting their first financial literacy workshop on the 16th and 17th June 2022 for group 1 and 21-22 June 2022 for group 2.
On the 26th May 2022, a workshop was organised on the topic of Business legal and socioeconomic rights.
Our facilitator also created an environment conducive to building a positive, trusting relationship between the project team and the participants as well as for participants with their teammates. The community is not only one to learn, but one to share and find a safe space with other women.
Pre-recruitment process
Our project team conducted two pre-recruitment processes, meeting 64 prospects on between April and May. We shared information about the project, capacity building training content and explained the recruitment process.
Radio dialogue/talks show
During April and May 2022, we also conducted three dialogue/talks to promote gender equality and economic empowerment for women through our YWEs project, giving a platform for our Young Women Entrepreneurs’ voices and their businesses.
We integrated three topics related to our project objectives into the radio show talks, and engaged three YWEs Our topics included:
Newsflash on Radio Talk Show #1: Providing support to women in the economic and social sphere.
Newsflash on Radio Talkshow #2: Economic empowerment and empowerment of women through the provision of knowledge and skills
Newsflash on Radio Talkshow #3: The challenges for women in starting a business and managing business management
Social economic rights, good governance and Business law
Our team, in collaboration with ADHOC’s successfully conducted two workshops on Social-economic rights, good governance, and Business law on the 16th and 17th May 2022 at the Women’s Resource Center Organization headquarters and Amber Angkor Villa and Spa hotel.
15 Women and 13 local authorities attended our workshops to learn to exercise their civic rights and increase civic engagement at the local level. As a result, from the first workshop, knowledge increased by 59% according to the results of pre-test post-tests (from 26% to 85%). From the second workshop, conducted to 13 authorities, knowledge increased by 43% - pre-test results at 44% and post-test at 87%.
We continue to work relentlessly to provide the tools to make Cambodia a more egalitarian society.
