This World Malaria Day, we are reminded of a critical truth: education cannot succeed without health.
In 2024, the WHO African Region was home to 95% of malaria cases (265 million) and 95% (579 000) of malaria deaths.
But one major barrier still threatens their progress: malaria.
Malaria remains one of the leading causes of illness and school absenteeism among children in Sierra Leone. When a child becomes sick, they miss school. When illness happens repeatedly, they fall behind. In severe cases, malaria can take lives—cutting short futures filled with potential.
Your support helps ensure that no child has to choose between health and education.
Healthy children learn.
Protected children thrive.
Educated children lead.
This World Malaria Day, thank you for standing with us and for being part of the solution.
Together, we can protect lives, support education, and continue building the next 20 years of impact.
With gratitude,
Amy & the Develop Africa Team
