On March, after the holidays, we started activities in Longchamps. With the theater teachers, Isabel and Fernanda, we went to the Longchamp home to meet the girls who live there.
The project this year is called SuperArte III and deals with topics that reinforce social inclusion and the promotion of human rights. With this project, girls have a first and deep look at the world of art, especially theater. However, it is a mixture of dance, singing and acting, which gives girls the opportunity to be creative.
Every year the girls prepare a play with their teachers that they present in front of a varied audience. However, in this first instance, before starting the rehearsals of the work, we began to perform different theatrical and improvisation games, to excite the children and to have fun, as well as to exercise the body to be available to the artistic creation.
One of the activities of the week was a game where the girls gathered in groups of four or five people. The teacher at the beginning told them a situation, then each group had to think and imagine what could happen next and prepare a performance from that. With this type of exercise they were given the opportunity to think their own story and put their creativity to use. The girls did their task very well, and I'm sure the resulting perfomance will exceed our expectations.
