On Friday, October 27, we went to one of the centers of the Educational Strengthening Program organised by the Messengers of Peace, located in the Caacupé Chapel of the "Villa 31" neighborhood.
There, children meet twice a week in the afternoon and are divided into three groups according to their age.
On this specific day, the teacher for group 3, Chiara, was unfortunately ill and could not attend the session. The group is composed of children between the ages of 10 and 12. Three volunteers therefore took charge of the group's activities.
As is common in each class, we began by handing out orange juice and cookies, while we talked with the children and played board games. Everyone was very happy and motivated. After that moment, groups 1, 2 and 3 were divided to start working on the didactic material. But as Chiara could not attend, the volunteers organised other activities to do with the children of group 3.
We created a game called "City-Country-River", in which each child had to think of a word that fitted a category and started with the letter that we gave them. After that, we played another game where the children had to form a word out of letters that we presented in front of them.
These activities were very fun, because everyone could freely use their creativity and the results were very interesting. Therefore, this Friday was a great day for us, the volunteers, and for the children in group 3.
