Yengat Birhan works in Yeka sub city, Woreda 08 slums area (Sholla local Market) for about six years after it has got the license. The focus of the organization is to reach marginalized families by supporting families especially single mothers who are struggling to support their children and child headed family (orphan) who lost their parents and become responsible for their younger siblings.
On this quarter, in the last three months the organization was still working in assisting 76 very poor women to engage in and to upgrade an income generating activities. We were able to identify and provided training for women’s, for whom needed training for their business after completing a form assessing their status. So now we transferred ETB120, 000.00 to one of the women group Bank account number (SHG) and soon the group representatives will give loan to the 20 members of the SHG in order to start or upgrade their businesses.
As our main interventions focused area, income generating activities, though YBCO is working to make a visible difference by way of introducing a sustainable community owned projects through building self-esteem and strong partnership to its stakeholders, but lack of working places for the women’s business is making it difficult for them to improve their income.
The following activities were accomplish in this quarter in the women IGA project
