Summary

After conducting various statistics and studies in Lebanon, numbers show that more than half of Syrian refugee children have no access to any kind of education. A staggering number of hopeless children are illiterate and have no hope for the future. Online learning is a solution to cover the illiteracy of the Syrian refugee children in informal camps. Through this project, we are intending to connect online teachers with out-of-school children age 6-14 living in camps. You can help in doing so!

Challenge

Syrian Refugee children suffer from illiteracy and absence of any opportunity to grow or develop in any society. This lack of access is wasting and burning the potential and energy of more than a generation of young people that never had the chance to learn or develop any skill for survival and self fulfillment. Lebanon is already suffering to maintain a minimum of educational standards in major cities and areas, so imagine the disregard these hundreds of thousand refugee children are facing.

Solution

Online learning is a solution to cover the illiteracy of the Syrian refugee children in informal camps. Through this project, we are intending to connect online teachers with out-of-school children age 6-14 living in camps. The only tool we need to accomplish this is to provide every child with a Tablet to facilitate communication and allow the student and the teacher access to our Basic Literacy and Numeracy Modules. Syrian refugee students deserve complementary education opportunities.

Long-Term Impact

Syrian Refugee children will get the chance to live a learning and academic experience for the first time. In addition, the exposure to such an educative environment paves the way to a healthier and more civilized community that is suffering to grow amidst all of the difficulties that stand in its way (Civil war, Extreme poverty,Covid-19...). Reaching a Child is a project by URDA Education Program that aims at reaching refugee children who are deprived education with an innovative education.
