No child should be left alone to face the experience of war. It strikes especially hard on children with autism spectrum disorder, ruining their routines and patterns essential for their stability and causing drawbacks in development. We are going to provide 10 children with ASD with rehabilitation courses which will help them stabilize amidst turmoil and regain progress. 1 child undertakes a 2-month course that consists of 60 classes.
Over 20,000 children in Ukraine are diagnosed with ASD, with the number increasing by 30% each year. These children benefit greatly from repetitive activities and maintaining a daily routine. However, the ongoing war, with its air raid alerts, shellings, and forced evacuations, disrupts the routines that are crucial for maintaining stability in a child's life. Just one of these factors, let alone the combination, cause setbacks in development, loss of acquired skills, and acute anxiety for many
Our organization finances rehabilitation courses for children with ASD affected by war. Individualized for each child, the rehabilitation program paths can include behavioral therapy, sensory correction, speech development assistance, and sometimes physical rehabilitation. The programs focus on developing a child's strengths and fostering adaptation to social life. Each course lasts for 2 months and consists of 60 classes with a language therapist, psychologist, and sensory integration classes.
The fulfillment of these programs is essential for children to maintain or regain the progress they have already achieved in their past courses and aid their adaptation to living in this new reality. The conditions of war underscore the significant need for such support, leading us to increase our efforts to support children with ASD. Shape their resilience today, and support the rehabilitation of Ukrainian children with ASD!
