By Sharon Coldren | President and soon to be retired president!
During the last part of 2023, The Coral Bay Community Council undertook a major shift in in its 20 year history. The volunteer President and Executive Director, Sharon Coldren is retiring and a new Executive Director has been hired: Monica Miller-Smith, Ed.D. Thus we are in an exciting organizational transition period and have also turned in grant applications - one that has already yielded an $800K plus National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant to help our community thrive, even with climate change and other environmental concerns.
During this period, we did receive $3000 from a local Community Foundation to help bring Holiday cheer to local families with children and the elderly via gift cards to a grocery store that also donated another $1,000 tto he cause.
We remain alert and our new executive director will be watching for ideas on how to fill gaps and encourage more children's activities in Coral Bay - both short term and long term.
We would like to keep this project open - knowing that at sometime we will have a very special need that we will be calling on a broader audience to support -- and you and your friends will want to!
Thank you for your continued support of CBCC - during our 20th anniversary year.
