Dear friends of Fundación Omar Dengo,
As the end of the year approaches, we would like to thank you for your amazing contributions and support so that Costa Rican young women with mild cognitive disabilities or who are deaf may have access to introductory training programs in Robotics designed and developed by the Omar Dengo Foundation.
Prior to this fundraising campaign, we graduated a first cohort of 11 young deaf women who completed the first pilot training. One of these young women, Priscilla, wants to apply the knowledge gained during the training course to transform blocks and programming and work towards becoming a great pastry chef employing technology into her creations. This is very exciting for all of us at the Foundation, and we are all looking forward to learning from Priscilla´s experience in the future.
Thanks to your kind contributions, we will implement new Robotics training programs for young deaf women starting this next April 2019. Furthermore, thanks to the success with our pilot training and the exposure and networking gained throughout the Global Giving campaign, we were able to secure a grant from Motorola Solutions Foundation that will fund the execution of two training sessions for young deaf women. In addition, we will be able to provide robotics-training courses for young women with mild cognitive disabilities, through a contribution from a donor-advice fund from CAF America. Finally, Intelitek donated us 40 CoderZ software licenses, an online learning environment for Robotics that will allow young women supported by your donations to access the software once they have finished the face-to-face Robotics training program with us.
Our work and partnership with Global Giving continues to develop training strategies and supporting young women across Costa Rica. Your support and friendship with our mission represents a milestone in achieving a more just and prosperous society and bringing educational opportunities to our young people.
