Dear friends,
Warm greetings from educate.! It is an honour to share this update highlighting the learning, dedication, and impact that we have achieved together in the lives of children and young people in rural Honduras over the past months – especially through our hands-on STEM education programme.
In many rural communities in Trinidad, Santa Bárbara, where we work, access to technology remains extremely limited. For many children and teenagers, using a computer for the first time is a transformative experience that changes how they learn, solve problems, and imagine their future.
To respond to this challenge, in 2026 we continue to strengthen our STEM programme “Technology with Purpose.” The programme expands access to practical, hands-on STEM learning for children and youth from rural public schools, helping them develop digital and problem-solving skills that are essential for their education and future careers.
Through interactive lessons and guided practice, students learn to use computers, work with Microsoft Office tools, and explore basic coding and robotics. The programme is structured in two levels to support students at different stages of their education.
Level 1 – Primary School Students
In Level 1, girls and boys from public primary schools in the municipality of Trinidad attend sessions at our Youth Center every Thursday and Friday.
For most participants, this is their first experience using a computer. These first interactions with technology are powerful moments that begin to close the digital divide affecting rural communities.
During the first trimester of 2026, 21 students are participating in this programme, learning to use essential digital tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint through guided, hands-on activities.
Level 2 – Secondary School Students
Our Level 2 programme, held on Saturdays, serves students from public secondary schools in Trinidad and nearby communities.
Here, young people participate in weekly sessions where they deepen their digital skills through practical exercises in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, while also beginning to explore basic coding concepts.
Beyond technical training, the programme nurtures critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, empowering young people to approach real-world challenges with confidence.
Later this year, we are also excited to host our third annual Robotics Camp, where students will have the opportunity to apply their learning through collaborative, project-based STEM activities.
Every achievement highlighted in this report has been made possible thanks to the commitment and generosity of individuals and organizations who believe in the potential of young people in rural communities. Your support opens doors to opportunity, helping children and youth develop the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to build a better future.
On behalf of the entire educate. team, thank you for being part of this journey.
With gratitude,
Natalia Anariba
