Update on Sanitary Pads for Girls in Malawi
By Caleb Muchungu | Country Coordinator
We are happy once again to update our esteemed donors on progress of our project on Sanitary Pads for Girls in Malawi. We appreciate that the global economy is very constrained and many people may not have the capacity to contribute to projects all over the world. But we really appreciate those donors who have, despite this, dug into their pockets to support this project. We promise that we will not disappoint you. So far are delighted to have received
$103.17 disbursement sent for donations through Sep 30, 2024 by GlobalGiving. This is a small sum compared to what we are aiming for but it is still very much appreciated.
We have kept this sum safely because it is below what we can purchase a sewing machine with. But we are hopeful that once we reach an adequate amount we shall surely purchase a sewing machine so that production of sanitary pads can at least start, however modestly that will be.
This is a very important project to use since it caters for a very vulnerable group. We look forward to your continued support.

First amount

We are delighted to have received
$103.17 disbursement sent for donations through Sep 30, 2024 by GlobalGiving towards our project on Sanitary Pads for Girls in Malawi. This is a small sum compared to what we are aiming for but it is still very much appreciated.
With this first disbursement we are going to purchase our first sewing machine within this month or in January next year. We have already identified a used sewing machine which is stilll in very good working condition.
We are opting to buy the sewing machine instead of leaving the money in the bank until our targets are meant because doing so will greatly erode the value of the amount received over even a short time. The malawi Kwacha is declining in value at an extremely high rate. Whereas banks still offer unrealistic exchange rates the parallel black market exchange rates are twice the bank rates, leading to severe shortages of dollars which is the currency used by most funders.
We are very grateful to all your donations. In our next report we will be posting more on what we have done.
With your assistance we can change the plight of many girls in Malawi.
Thanks

Sanitary Pads for Secondary Girls in Malawi project update
By Caleb Muchungu | Country Coordinator
To our esteemed donors, well wishers and the beneficiaries of this project in Malawi we are gere to update you on the project progress so far.
The rarionale of the project was to produce reusable sanitary pads which would then be supplied to girls un secondary schools in rural Malawi. Sanitary pads are a luxury to many girls in Malawi because they are expensive and often not available. This project is supposed to address that.
The project appeal did very well in yhe first days with the highest donation being 150 dollars from one individual. However, things have grou d to a halt sinc3 then and donations have not been forthcoming. We are still optimistic and hope that you can still support the project so tnat we cwn reach our target.
Remember that sanitary pads will not only enhance the self status of a 4ural school girl but will also boost her participation and attendance of school, thus the net positive effects are tremendous.
We look forward to your continued support.
Positivo team
