Project Report | Feb 7, 2022
Quarterly report

By Meseret Tesfaye Wondafrash | Project leader

For the last three months, as usual we assist the school children through the school support activities. We could provide stationery material, mask, clothing, organized award and Christmas celebration events for the best achiever.
Regarding the school support activities, the new thing is that the government school is start providing the tutorial services 3 – 4 days in a week, after classes because of this our tutorial program change. We forced to stop providing tutorial service by our own and start paying tutorial services fee for 134 school children. The tutorial classes focused on basic subjects, English, Mathematics and Since etc., for grade 8 students, they providing additional teaching every Saturday.
On the month of October, 2021 we also gave to the children different type of stationary materials such as Exercise book, Eraser, sharpener, Ruler, Pen, and Pencil, one piece from each items for all students. The number of absenteeism decreased very much from the Ethics class, which provided once weekly, in average 2 to 3 children only were absent in a week currently. It can be explain because student came to tutorial class directly from their regular class, not from home since there is no shift (every other day fashion) as before.
As Gods will the government planned to provides regular class for this year as it was before COVID 19 restriction.
As we stated in above, due to the new government school plan, we forced to change our way of doing things. Some of the change currently we made is: We providing ethics class once\week in our compound, for both boy and girls club providing behavioral change communication\dialog, for age below 12 providing art and music once\week in our compound.
Again due to the new change, we stop preparing snack for children by our own but we use the outsource option. After collecting preform and more discussion on the snack type, we decided to use a variety of the following snack types by rotation with the same budget: pizza, lintel sandwich, fresh egg sandwich as 2 egg\child and a one package together with 30gm pizza, 30gm lintel sandwich and 30 Bonbolino.
Birr100.00\child is the fee for tutorial services as the monthly fees that paid for the government school. As their school requests, we have decided to pay an additional 100 birr for 8th grades students, for tutorial service 1\2 day on Saturday, to prepare our 19 student for the ministry exam.
Starting from December we provided personal hygiene materials like: sanitary pads and oil for girls and 2 life boy soap for hand and 2 soap for cloth but only for 75 students because of budget constraints (for those who have sponsors).
For the Christmas celebration, which planned to celebrate on January 11, 2022, was post ponded because of Orthodox Christian fasting, and had a wonderful time with the kids in different activities like: giving a gift for all our children as example of Christ is a gift for us, sharing the good news in the new way with projector, and eating together as a unity day (get together day).

Thank you again!
