Dear Donors,
It has been 11 months since we started with the project to help Baru people to study at the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island, by giving them a transportation aid.
Once again, we would like to thank you for your generous donations through GlobalGiving to support the project. We are confident that with your help, we will continue to help Baru people to study and therefore increase del quality of life.
Thanks to your donations, the 7 students that have received the transportation aid have already finished the academic phase of their careers. 2 of them are doing the practice stage in 2 of the island´s hotels. They have been hired with a long-term contract.
On March, a new group of people started to study at the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island (Cuisine and Table & Bar). 4 of them are from Baru town, all of which will receive the transportation aid in order to attend their classes in Santa Ana town.
Testimony
In addition to the information given above, we would like to tell you a little bit more about the students you have supported.
This is why, we have prepare a testimony, taken from a short interview we made to Yesenia, who is studying accommodation at the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island:
¿Why did you choose this career?
"I chose this career because in Baru you can see a lot of turism and in this career I found an opportunity to move forward and improve my quality of life as well as my family´s".
¿How studying this career has changed your life?
"I can now help my husband, buy our things and move forward with my kids. Studying is the only way to have a better future".
¿What to do think about the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island?
"It is a blessing for the Island, because it is an institution that let us form ourselves not only as thecnicians but as better human beings.
Thank you very much to all who have participated to make this process possible. I am thankful for having formed us and helped us to move forward. Thanks to the National Learning Service for the excelent classes. We no longer have to go to Cartagena to have the opportunity to study".
We will continue to post regular reports to keep you informed on the project progress.
With gratitude,
Ana Milena Ordosgoitia and the Hernan Echavarria Foundation team
