New PARKS Project Location

Sisterhood Agenda’s SHE: Sisters, Healthy & Empowered program is getting a boost! As we implement our PARKS Project Phase 1, we have always remained keenly aware of the need for a safe space that also promotes holistic health and wellness. Our PARKS location will be the new training and program implementation location for SHE in Baltimore County.

Sisterhood Agenda’s article about wellness real estate and our article about trauma is very helpful for understanding the importance of location. A safe, healthy, healing space is the goal, particularly regarding proximity to nature, promotion of mental health, harmony, and balance.

PARKS (Positively Affirming Reality & Knowledge in Sisterhood) is a holistic, community-based development that provides safe housing to women in Baltimore County, Maryland. Sisterhood Agenda will build 22 beautiful, affordable, ecofriendly units; 11 dedicated to transitional supportive housing and 11 dedicated to permanent supportive housing. PARKS prevents homelessness for women and their families going through life challenges and trauma, often due to personal violence and human trafficking.

We plan to have a water element on-site, for example, a brook, a creek, a river, a pond, or other water sources. Water aids in releasing and letting go and encourages new beginnings, creativity, and beauty.

In addition to our location in the Baltimore-Washington area, we continue to plan SHE: Sisters, Healthy & Empowered activities at our oceanfront SEA: Sisterhood Empowerment Academy on St. John in the Virgin Islands, a coronavirus pandemic recovery effort.

Program Activities in the Virgin Islands

Sisterhood Agenda is excited to share more information about our new PARKS eco-friendly community development project! Sisterhood Agenda’s PARKS site will offer support services in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area, for both local and national constituents. Our direct support services, include, but are not limited to the SHE: Sisters, Healthy & Empowered program.

In the meantime, we have had to push back the planned re-opening of our SEA: Sisterhood Empowerment Academy on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands until Spring 2022 due to the COVID pandemic and its resurgence.

While we presented virtual and digital program options for girls, this format’s capacity to create the type of environment that we think is ideal for powerful change and lasting impact is limited.

With SHE activities and other girl power programs, we strive for meaningful connection, sisterhood support, and transformation!

Based on our experience (over twenty-five years!), we have found that in-person instruction, interaction, and group bonding is best.

Therefore... we plan to have more SHE activities on St. John as soon as the facility reopens. Members of our team are currently working diligently to secure additional resources for the program, including airfare and accommodations, for those who can travel to St. John until our Maryland program site is built.

Having SHE activities on site on St. John is very exciting, as this is an ideal health and healing environment. We have many great activities planned on this beautiful and unique island paradise!

Our Sisterhood Agenda team is moving forward with cautious enthusiasm, knowing that shifts in the pandemic will cause us to shift, too. Adaptable and optimistic, we look forward to gathering again with girls all around the world (finally!) after our COVID hiatus.

New Site & Online Offerings

More than ever, we realize that we need a special place to retreat, relax, unwind, and unplug. It is not simply helpful to do so; it is necessary to maintain our physical, emotional, and mental health for self-care and resilience. That is what SHE: Sisters Healthy & Empowered is all about.

We know that not everyone can come to our SEA: Sisterhood Empowerment Academy on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We agree that this is one of the most peaceful, restorative places in the world!

For a location closer to our U.S.-based global partners, we are currently looking for a land parcel. It is in our newest geographical expansion area that is conducive for our holistic health and healing agenda, including but not limited to SHE: Sisters Healthy & Empowered. Specifically, we have been looking for vacant land spaces in the Baltimore Washington area. Fortunately, we are seeing some exciting sites!

Yet, they are expensive and our budget is limited. However, we are confident that we can find what we need to have fabulous on-site activities and a base of operations for this needed initiative. If you can help us with this important project, please let us know!

Some of you may still not be able to come to our newest up-and-coming location in the eastern United States. In-person experiences are often best, but we understand that it may be not feasible for a number of valid and important reasons.

That is okay because we are also doing our best to accommodate you where you are by launching a series of online programs and courses that are accessible anywhere you can get an Internet connection.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the following new Sisterhood Agenda online offerings: A Journey Toward Womanhood, A Journey Toward Womanhood Training for Administrators, and How to Relax. We are currently transitioning SHE: Sisters Healthy & Empowered and other educational materials to this online format, too.

Anyone can join our online community by being a part of our global sisterhood, just like you. Thank you for reading our update and for your continued support! We hope to hear from you or see you at a sisterhood event soon.
