By Johanna Barba | Sinal do Vale team
This year we are expanding our reforestation work at Sinal with an additional 20 hectares. Around 32,000 native trees will be planted, strengthening local biodiversity and contributing to climate resilience. To support this growth, we are restructuring and expanding our nursery, ensuring a reliable supply of healthy seedlings for the coming years.
Beyond planting, our long-term vision includes the creation of a bird release area, a space where rescued and rehabilitated birds can be safely returned to their natural environment. This will add an important dimension to our conservation work, connecting forest recovery with wildlife protection.
The project will combine five different techniques, including agroforestry, to restore ecological balance while supporting sustainable land use. With each step, we aim to build a healthier landscape that benefits both nature and the local community.
A big thank you to our donors who are making this happen! stay tuned for more updates on this.
