Skills Training for 300 Teenage Mothers in Uganda

This reporting period marked another important step toward transforming the lives of vulnerable teenage mothers in rural Uganda. Through the Skills Training for 300 Teenage Mothers project, young women who previously faced social exclusion and economic hardship are gaining practical vocational skills that will enable them to build sustainable livelihoods and support their children.

Participants continued training in tailoring, hairdressing, handicrafts, baking, and entrepreneurship. In addition to technical skills, beneficiaries attended life-skills sessions covering financial literacy, self-confidence, reproductive health awareness, and business planning. These sessions are helping young mothers develop the resilience and knowledge needed to navigate future challenges.

Many participants have expressed renewed hope and determination as they acquire skills that can generate income and reduce dependency. Community leaders and parents have also shown increasing support for the program, recognizing its positive impact on families and local communities.

The project team conducted regular monitoring visits to ensure effective learning and identify areas where additional support is needed. Mentorship activities have strengthened participants' motivation while creating a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and economic empowerment.

As we move forward, preparations are underway to provide starter kits and strengthen market linkages for graduating trainees. These resources will help participants transition from training to self-employment and income generation.
