Theresa Can Study Better and Safer - Thanks to YOU!
By Amy Baty-Herbert | Project Coordinator
Theresa is thankful for her new solar light
Dear Project Supporters,
We greatly appreciate your support that enables us to provide solar power and technology to students who had to rely on dangerous kerosene lamps previously to study at night. Theresa is one of the students who has benefitted from her solar light.
Theresa is thirteen years old and is in JSS 1 (Junior Secondary School). She enjoys reading and her favorite subject is English. She truly enjoys going to school and is delighted to have a solar light that enables her to read and study at night. She would like to be a teacher when she grows up. Theresa expressed her appreciation for the solar light that has made a difference in her life.
We want every child to have the opportunity to read and study safely. We are together making the world safer, 1 child at a time.
Please join us in making children’s lives brighter and safer by providing solar power and technology to other students in need. Thanks so much for your support.
With great appreciation,
The Develop Africa Team

Solar Radios Help Girls Improve Their English
By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader
Broad smile = happy to have solar radio
Dear project supporters,
We recently distributed 38 Multipurpose Solar radios to girls at the FAWE school. The girls were excited and very happy to receive the radios.
At the distribution ceremony, Joseph, our program Coordinator, encouraged the girls to tune into educative radio broadcasts that were put together by the Ministry of Education to add value to their lives. The broadcasts, he explained, will help them to improve their English.
These Emergency Polaris radios were previously obtained through a partnership with Lifeline Energy. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and support.
The kids and the families extend their gratitude and appreciation to YOU for helping to enhance their learning. YOUR support means a ton - a lot more than you realize! Thank you for helping to make a difference!
See photos of the girls with the radios.
With great appreciation,

Use of Solar Lights Results in Better Grades
By Sylvester Renner | Project Leader
This family was thrilled to receive solar lights
Dear project supporters,
Thank you for your continued support in helping us provide each child with a safe, reusable solar light! With these lights, the kids are able to read safely at night - with no exposure to harmful fumes from naked flames.
Nineteen solar lights were distributed to families in need. Priority was given to school going children who live in homes without electricity. Five of the families were in this category. Another five of the solar lights were distributed to children from the Old Wharf community. An additional nine children in the Mellon Street community in Wellington also received solar lights.
Joshua, our Project Coordinator, reminded the parents that the first priority of use is for the kids to school related work. The lights are also used for urgent needs that require safe lighting.
In following up with the beneficiaries, we found out that the kids are doing better in school. All of them made good grades in their recent school report cards. This performance was an improvement when compared to their grades prior to the reception of the solar light. Use of the solar lights resulted in greater achievement.
The kids and the families extend their gratitude and appreciation to you for helping to make learning easier and safer. YOUR support means a ton - a lot more than you realize! Thank you for helping to make a difference!
With great appreciation,
The Develop Africa Team
