Every month we spay between 30 and 40 animals, not that we don't have more requests than this, but even doing this much is a stretch on our budget.
Have there been improvements?
Yes, definitely. The number of abandoned puppies in our commune has decreased considerably, as has the number of kittens. This doesn't mean we don't have abandoned dogs or cats in the area, but their number is manageable and most of them are adults.
The spaying efforts are not enough if we don't work on the education of people, and that is why we have programs with the kids that go home and tell their parents what they have learnt.
We know that putting animals through a surgery because of our lack of education is not the best solution, but until we improve on the education front, it is the most humane solution for the animals.
