Last month was a cold one in Romania, so we didn't expect to get so many requests to spay cats and dogs. In total, through our 2 partner vet practices, we spayed 51 female cats, 2 female dogs and castrated 17 male cats.
Theoretically, that means we have prevented the birth of around 200 new kittens and 20 new puppies, which is creat, but still not good enough.
The traditional way of getting read of puppies and kittens is either by abandoning the mom brefore giving birth or by abandoning the puppies in a play that their chances of surviving are small.
Through our work with the children, our campaigns in school together with the police and our door to door campaign, we aim to teach people that there are better ways of dealing with unwanted puppies and kittens, but most of them do not afford to spay their animals, so our help is still needed.
