Educate an Orphan in Rural Western Kenya

The reopening of eighth and fourth grade was a big relief to us and the students.  Covid - 19 has not only caused death but has caused our girls' education. Reopening of the schools even for the two classes was a new beginning.

We have 67 students at school and the rest will be opening in January.  We will be closing on the 18th of this month for the Christmas holidays and we will be back on the 4th of January.  Our National exams for 4th grade, 8th grade, and form four in high school has been postponed to March.  This has affected our academic year and the high school students are sad because they were expecting to be out of school this month.  The eighth-grade students are also wondering when they will join the high school because the exams have been postponed. The academic year will be not the same until 2020.

We have been going through trying times but YOU have not been far from your children. The children and their families have received food hampers every month. YOUR support has done more than expected and we can't just keep quiet but we strongly raise our voice to thank you.

Our monthly supporters are very few and it is our prayer that this will change next year. We cant make it on our own but we believe in you and together we can make it happen!  Many lives have changed just because of you!  Kindly share with your friends and family about the incredible change you have brought in the villages. Kenya has not been exempted from the ongoing worldwide pandemic. They are sad to report that the schools are still closed until next year.   The government stated that the schools will open once all the COVID -19 measures have been put in place.

The children are out of school and their lives are not the same.  Most of the children are happy when they are at school. The village children are going through a lot of difficulties as they have no food.  Many children depend on the meals served at school, this makes it hard for them to stay at home without a meal.  Families are surviving on one meal per day and the children are finding it hard.

We have tried our best as an organization to support not only the children from our school and home but the children in the community. Since the month of March we have been giving food baskets to widows, widowers, and poor families. The program has been of big help to the community members, especially children. The basket comprised Maize flour, sugar, tea leaves, salt, cooking oil, and soap.  The soap was a must because with COVID – 19 we need to wash our hands with soap every time and some families have cannot afford soap.  They would rather buy maize flour than soap. 

We would like to thank GlobalGiving for their generosity towards our food program.  Tumaini benefitted from the grants and we were able to reach out to more families in the village.  Our food distribution has benefitted 100 people directly and more than 500 people indirectly.
