Sponsor 630 Children in Need Through Education

Fundación DEHVI is growing as the weeks go by. People are getting to know us and are trusting us more and more with the services and support we provide to the children, families, and communities where we work. For the moment, we are providing access to quality early education and daily meals to almost 400 boys and girls that live in extreme poverty, poverty, and socio-economic vulnerability in Costa Rica’s Greater Metropolitan Area. However, we are not doing this work on our own. Your donations have contributed to our growth, and more importantly and more specifically, your donations have contributed to the cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional development of all these children we are supporting.

Our five child centers are working on different projects and are celebrating important dates such as The Children’s Book Day! Fundación DEHVI’s child center located in Loto de Desamparados celebrated on April 1^st this magical day. During all march, Loto’s teachers taught all the boys and girls everything about books. They taught them about the importance of taking care of books, how are they used, and they learned about its parts. After this introduction about books, the children began to work on their own book projects. The teachers of the youngest children developed one book with the help of all of their students, but the teachers of the oldest children helped each of their students create a book of their own.

The 3 and 4 year olds created their own ‘story books’. They told their own stories from when they were in their mothers’ tummies to where they are today. They also made the books’ illustrations. All the books were ready before The Children’s Book Day because this day they presented their parents, teachers and all of their other child center-mates the book-projects they had been working on.

Additionally, the teachers had a surprise for their students! They recreated the Three Little Pigs story where they made and decorated the set with all-recycled materials. The children had a lot of fun because they had read the story before and now they were seeing the story right in front of them.

Thanks to you, these 43 boys and girls in Loto and all the other children in the other 4 child centers operated by Fundación DEHVI are learning and having fun! They are learning in the most creative and innovative ways that help them develop life long skills.

Monday January 4th was a very exciting day! Since early in the morning, all of DEHVI's teachers, assitants, and cooks were preparing their classrooms and kitchens and eagerly waiting for their former and new students to arrive for their first day of [pre]school of the year! The teachers prepared fun activities for their former students so they could feel good to be back; and for those who were knew, so they could feel at home. And just by looking at their faces, you can say they did.

All these children began a new exciting journey on that day, they now have new teachers and new classmates that will share together fun and interesting learning experiences. Some children are new to DEHVI's child centers, and some children are not; however, they are all excited to make new friends and learn new things! 

Fundación DEHVI launched a micro-project named "Back to school campaign for 5 child centers in CR!" in order to raise funds for this amazing day. All the donations Fundación DEHVI received through this micro-project campaign and through "Sponsor 300 children in need through education" from November 2015 through the beginning of January 2016, were specifically directed to equip all 25 classrooms with specific pedagogic materials for the children's year-long learning and first day of [pre]school of the year. All these donations are supporting the quality education hundreds of boys and girls from 0 - 5 years of age. The Back to School campaign is going to be active until February Wednesday17th! So we invite you to keep supporting our boys and girls. We only need to raise $4,580 to achieve our goal, and we know that together we will make it happen!

We also have some great news for you that have made us incredibly happy! Our "Sponsor 300 children in need through education" campaign will change its name because we have been growing over the past few months. Fundación DEHVI is providing high quality educational services to more than 300 children and their families at the moment, and we plan to keep growing and transforming more and more lives. We deeply appreciate your care and support towards our cause because thanks to you we have been able to benefit hundreds of children and their families as well!
