The Power of Sports and Innovative Education

Dear Valued Supporters,

We are excited to share with you the detailed progress we have made in Q1 and Q2 2024, thanks to your generous support and unwavering dedication to our cause.

Through our unique approach of combining sports and innovative education, we have been able to engage and empower highly vulnerable adolescent girls in Grades 11 and 12 who have been struggling with their academic performance since the COVID-19 pandemic. With your help, we have expanded our program to 11 public schools in Tacloban, reaching an additional 165 girls.

Other notable milestones achieved by FundLife at the start of 2024 are as follows:

Co-hosted the Tacloban Mayor's Cup 2024 Futsal Tournament with the Department of Education - Tacloban Division at the Generation Amazing Community Club (GACC) located at Brgy 106, Sto. Niño, Tacloban City. The tournament was a resounding success, with 56 girls aged 13-17 participating in 25 exciting futsal matches. The competition not only provided an opportunity for the girls to showcase their skills but also served as a platform to promote gender equality and women's empowerment.

Organized the Girls Community League (GCL) Festival, a special edition of our GCL initiative. During the event, we distributed hygiene kits to 83 girls, which included sanitary pads, soap, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and cologne. The girls also participated in a Champions session with a local female Champion, Architect Danisa May Fuentebella, who shared her inspiring story and emphasized the importance of sports in teaching valuable life skills such as perseverance, discipline, collaboration, and self-confidence.Currently, the GCLF involves 106 girls from two age categories - U14 (14 years old and under) and U17 (17 years old and under). Since the kick-off ceremony, the girls have played 60 matches every Saturday morning, totaling up to 15 hours of play. Alongside these play sessions, we have organized mentorship sessions on mental health awareness, personal wellness, and developing good study habits to ensure that these girls receive comprehensive support and guidance.

Initiated the Move for Equity Campaign, which was held in celebration of International Women's Day. The campaign saw the participation of 74 individuals, 23 of whom were males and 51 of whom were females. Through a Zumba activity, we highlighted the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle for all participants and promoting gender equality.

Delivered a two-day capacity-building training on Gender Violence for 29 senior high school coordinators, school guidance counselors, youth mentors, and youth leaders. The training equipped the participants with knowledge of laws related to gender-based violence and oriented them on the reporting mechanisms so they can respond adequately should these cases happen in the community. We believe that education and awareness are crucial in addressing gender-based violence and creating a safer and more inclusive community for all.

We are genuinely excited to continue this journey together in the upcoming months and look forward to the endless possibilities. Your steadfast support has been an unwavering source of hope, fueling our determination to push forward in our mission to #StandwithGirls.

Ending 2023 With Smiles, Impact and Social Entrepreneurship

Dear valued Supporters,

Firstly, Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. We hope those celebrating the holiday season have a festive and healthy break.

As we kick off 2024, we are thrilled to share the incredible impact your generous support has had on the Girls Got This project in Cebu, Philippines, over the past three months.

One major accomplishment is the successful finalization of mental health and resiliency sessions for the Cebu Cohort, providing vital tools for young girls to navigate life's challenges. Additionally, your ongoing contributions played a crucial role in concluding FundLife's COVID-19 Emergency Response for Girls in Cebu, ensuring the well-being of vulnerable girls during these challenging times and helping them deal with the fallout of the COVID-19 crisis across Cebu.

Our Social Enterprise Pathway Challenge was a resounding success, empowering over 50 young women to develop business proposals and get them thinking critically about becoming self-employed rather than trying to apply for regular employment. On December 23, the final 8 participants showcased their entrepreneurial spirit, pitching their businesses to a panel of esteemed business judges. Your support has helped turn dreams into tangible opportunities for these aspiring entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, FundLife conducted Case Management and Referral Pathway Systems Training, reinforcing child protection measures. The workshop focused on essential skills, including handling disclosures reporting abuses, neglect, and exploitation. This ensures a safer environment for the girls, with clear channels for addressing concerns.

Your ongoing commitment has transformed lives and created lasting change for all the girls touched by our work. We look forward to continuing this incredible journey together in the coming months.

Stepping Forward to Protecting Adolescent Girls

Hurray on the Global Day of Play!

Dear Supporter,

The 3^rd Quarter of 2023 concluded with the #StandWithGirls campaign to further awareness, increase our impact to partner schools and communities, and widen our scope in terms of protection and participation of our adolescent girls and young women.

Our school and community partners undergone various and specific training to strengthen their support to our AGYW, and the non-binary. While our regular programming such as Mental Health Sessions, and Digital Skills Training have received positive impact from our AGYW.

To cap off the quarter, our adolescent girls and young women celebrated the International Youth Day and the Global Day of Play 2023 that centered on Environmental Sustainability. The AGYW and the non-binary tackled on different issues on climate change, sustainable cities, clean environment, and green skills. They used the power of play while tackling the undesirable effects of plastic wastes in the environment.

Here are some of our highlights of the last three months:

80 adults from partner schools and communities attended the Digital Skills Training and Upskilling, Psychological First Aid, and Capacity building on Strengthening Prevention against Human Trafficking through the 3-Pathway Program, Key Areas on Child Protection, and Equal Play Effect on Gender Equity.
75 adolescent girls attended the Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Session.
60 adolescent girls were trained under the Digital Skills Pathway Program
50 adolescent girls and young women joined the training on basic life support, and self-defense.

With these varied and collective movements for our adolescent girls and young women, we always value their enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication in making their dreams into a reality. We always believe that our programs help to accelerating the Sustainable Development Goal of the 2030 United Nations Agenda. Finally, your continuous support of our programming, brings so much hope and engagement among the AGYW.
