Steps to Recovery: Supporting Syrian Amputees

The Syrian National Project for Prosthetic Limbs (NSPPL) recently provided a prosthetic limb for our beneficiary, Jaber. In addition to fitting the prosthetic, our team trained Jaber on its use, helping him adapt to his new limb and regain confidence in his mobility. Alongside these essential services, we also offered psychological support to help him navigate the emotional challenges that often accompany such life changes.

This support would not be possible without the generosity of our donors. Thanks to the Steps to Recovery project, Jaber and many others are now on a path to independence and improved well-being. At NSPPL centers, our specialized physical therapists are dedicated to providing vital physical therapy services for individuals affected by muscular atrophy. Muscular atrophy, characterized by the loss or reduction of muscle mass and strength, can result from various causes such as cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, neurological injuries, aging, reduced physical activity, and chronic illnesses. Physical therapy plays a crucial role in treating muscular atrophy by improving muscle strength and function.

Recently, we had the opportunity to provide this essential therapy to Ahmed, who, like many others, is working to regain his strength and mobility. Through targeted exercises and dedicated care, Ahmed is on the path toward improved muscle function and a better quality of life.
