We are making progress with the participation of communities
By Carmen Argueta | President
Seedlings
It's been good to work with the communities last months. We are progressing because of the support of our friends and the positive participation of women and men during the project. Families are not just getting inputs or materials, they are also learning and sharing knowledge. These are some of the new achievements:
- Learned farming strategies with by doing 2 exchange activities in agroecological plots. In this case, farmers had the opportunity to learn how to adapt crops, fruits, forest trees, and plants to produce food and protect the environment by using only organic inputs and resources available at the plot.
- Improved economy by implementing 2 local markets. Women had the opportunity to sell their products at local level to support local community and promote healthy farming.
- Promoted healthy food. Women have promoted healthy food to reduce diseases by growing their own food.
- Stored of grains. Some families have stored their grains by using storage devices that allow them to maintain at least 500 pounds of corn for their tortillas.
- Seed sharing during events. We do a lot of activities to share seeds, so families have the ability to keep their native crops, plants or fruits. This allows the families to have products adapted to climate change.
- Provided seedling for vegetable gardens. This is a permanent activity we do with this project and others, so we can go to more families.
We are making progress and sharing knowledge with families, so they are preparing for any inconvenient. In the next weeks, we also will be helping with other activities related to clean water, and disaster response.
A big thanks to all of you!

Community market
It's been a great year and we feel happy about the achievements made by women in rural communities. During last months, implemented actions to keep supporting families with community-based initiatives.
This is a list of the most important achievements:
- About 10 families have been beneficiated with organic inputs to keep working on their vegetable gardens
- 25 farmers have learned about using organic inputs to improve the fertilization of their corn plots. This helped a lot to improve the soil conditions in about 10 hectares and reduced the use of chemicals to produce corn
- 17 farmers have shared native and adapted seeds in two events of Seed Sharing. This is helping to save native seeds and reduce the use of genetically modified seeds
- 3 new chicken coops have been built and equipped with all necessary equipment to grow chickens
- 30 people have learned about improving crops with organic matter
- About 200 people participated in a community market where they learned about how to grow vegetables, medical plants, and fruits with organic farming.
The women who got benefits from the beginning are still producing eggs and selling for a better price in their communities.
There are good experiences about this project. For example, there was a woman in a community maker who said “I am selling vegetables from the seeds another person shared with me; we should keep sharing seeds and doing these type of events”
Women in El Salvador Thank you for your generous support. We together have done a lot and there is more to do.

We are looking to support more families
By Carmen Argueta | President of Mangrove Association
New Corn Fields
We are working with more people!
Families are fighting against hunger in El Salvador. Everything got expensive, but people in rural communities are looking for ways to produce their own food.
One of our main goals is to share kwnoledge, so families are ready to fight against vulnerabilities.
Everything got expensive, but once families receive support from us and other organizations, the effects are less. During this period, we have been done the following actions:
- We started a new strategic planning with the participation of the beneficiaries
- There are more women have built their chicken coops
- The first beneficiaries are increasing their chickens and producing more chicken eggs
- 10 families are producing corn and combining with nitrogen fixer plants like green beans
- About 10 women participated in a worshop about organic fertilizers in our experimental area
- Other farmers have shared their experience about existing agroecologial plots where they produced their own food.
We are looking forward to do more!
