Home visits in 2025 have begun!

By Summer Tan | Program Officer

On October 6, 2025, 19 volunteers gathered in Renhua County, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, to conduct home visits for 32 students applying for the scholarship program. This home visit covered 10 towns in Renhua County. Five groups of volunteers drove cars and started home visits all over the mountains according to the addresses provided by the students.

In this volunteer team, there are three special types of participants. The first one is the volunteer team from Zhenjiang District, Shaoguan City. They have been participating in Shining Star home visits for the scholarship program for 15 years. Every year, they participate in home visits with enthusiasm during their vacation time. They said, "This is a particularly meaningful project! I hope to keep participating and help these children have the opportunity to go to school.” The second one is the students who have received scholarship from the scholarship program. After graduating from high school, they returned to Shining Star Organization. As big sisters, they visited students applying for scholarships at their homes and encouraged them to keep going with their own experiences. Finally, there was a special mother and daughter who came from Hong Kong. The daughter is particularly grateful for the good fortune in her life and also hopes to do her best to help more girls complete their studies. Her mother also strongly encouraged and supported her, so she came all the way from Hong Kong with her to participate in this home visit.

We completed home visits to all the applicants. Ultimately, after collecting, verifying and discussing all the information, we decided to ultimately sponsor 22 students. It is hoped that this scholarship can alleviate their burden of going to school, give them wings on their educational path, and help them fly to their world.
