Because of your generosity, 2025 was a truly transformative year for Lend a Hand Bahamas.

This past year, we proudly opened our second community center, expanding our ability to serve children, teens, and families in the Over-the-Hill community. At the same time, we laid critical groundwork for the development of our third community center, further strengthening our long-term commitment to access, opportunity, and community-driven solutions.

Throughout 2025, our youth continued to thrive through hands-on STEM programming, literacy initiatives, workforce development, and creative enrichment opportunities. These programs are not just educational. They are pathways to confidence, skills, and real economic opportunity. Many of our teens are gaining exposure to careers they never imagined possible, while younger children are building strong foundations for lifelong learning.

Beyond programming, we remained deeply engaged in supporting families and strengthening community resilience, continuing the core mission that has guided Lend a Hand Bahamas since day one: meeting people where they are and walking alongside them toward a better future.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we move into 2026, our work continues and grows.

We invite our supporters to visit our centers, volunteer your time, and stay connected as our programs expand and evolve. Your involvement, whether through giving, sharing our story, or showing up in person, makes a real difference.

In the year ahead, we are also preparing for larger, long-term initiatives, including early efforts focused on addressing affordable housing challenges within the communities we serve. While our education, youth development, and workforce programs remain at the heart of our mission, we are committed to tackling systemic barriers that impact families’ ability to thrive.

At Lend a Hand Bahamas, we’ve built our reputation on being there in times of crisis. After Hurricane Dorian, we welcomed evacuees. During COVID-19, we fed up to 50,000 people each week. Those moments of emergency response mattered deeply — but our impact continues every single day.

Since 2018, our work in Grant’s Town and Bain Town has focused on empowering youth and strengthening families. Each month, hundreds of children participate in programs that spark learning, build skills, and create opportunity for the future. This year, we proudly opened a new Community Centre featuring a Reading Room and STEM Lab. Already, we are laying the groundwork for our third centre, which will focus on entrepreneurship and culinary training.

As the new school year begins, our commitment is to ensure every child has a place to learn, grow, and belong. Our team is preparing a full year of programming — from literacy support and mentorship to workforce development and skill-based training — so that young people in our community have the tools they need to thrive.

Looking ahead, 2026 will be a year of growth and deeper impact. With new centres, expanded programming, and stronger partnerships, Lend a Hand Bahamas is building a foundation that goes beyond crisis response — creating everyday spaces of hope, learning, and opportunity.
