As we prepare for the summer months ahead, I want to take a moment to thank you — and to share just how much your support means right now.
In many parts of Nassau, particularly in the Over-the-Hill communities we serve, summer can be a time of uncertainty for children and families. With schools closed, access to meals, learning opportunities, and safe spaces becomes even more limited. That’s where Lend a Hand Bahamas steps in — and where your generosity continues to be a lifeline.
Thanks to donors like you, we are not only keeping doors open — we are opening new ones. This past year, your support helped us expand our programs, reach more families, and even open our second community center, complete with a Reading Room, STEM Lab, and soon, a fully-equipped recording studio. We’ve seen firsthand how these spaces change lives. Kids who once struggled with reading are now eager learners. Teens who felt disconnected are now finding purpose through training in culinary arts, sewing, and even tech. And families that once came to us for help are now returning to volunteer, to give back, and to grow.
This summer, the need is growing — and so is our response. We’re planning our biggest summer yet, with camps and classes in literacy, science, arts, mental wellness, and job readiness. We expect to serve over 300 youth, many of whom would otherwise have few structured options during these crucial months. Every book, every meal, every mentor, and every smile is only possible because of your support.
But we can't do this alone.
If you’re able, we invite you to make a gift today to help fund our summer programs. Every dollar helps us reach one more child with something meaningful. You can also help us by sharing this update with your friends, family, or colleagues — people who care about education, equity, and the next generation. Let them know that Lend a Hand Bahamas is here, and that we are doing the work, day in and day out, to build a better future from the ground up.
Thank you for being a part of this movement. With your continued support, we can ensure this summer is not just a break — but a breakthrough.
